Story

One rainy November evening in 2014 whilst trawling property sites in the area we discovered The Old Vicarage. It was a love story waiting to happen, although tired and in need of an injection of light and people through the doors we knew it was a wonderful place to create somewhere special to welcome people to Pembrokeshire.

We decided to take a leap of faith and we moved into The Old Vicarage in March 2015. From the word go it was a hive of activity, stripping wallpaper, sanding floors, tiling and painting.. you name it we did it and finally in May we had a property we were proud of. We opened the doors to our first guests at the end of May and haven’t looked back since. It’s already been an incredible journey meeting people from all walks of life and from all over the world. Although we’re in sleepy little Pembrokeshire we have the world in our home (literally)!

Whilst I (Meg) manage the day to day running of the Bed & Breakfast, it has been Jaap’s incredible eye for detail and skill in renovating the property that has been invaluable. We’re both incredibly passionate about doing things well, whilst maintaining an ethos both in both our business and personal lives that sometimes less is more. We wanted to create not only somewhere special to stay in Pembrokeshire, but a future for our children.

By trade Jaap is a carpenter and joiner and runs a small firm which centres around North Pembrokeshire. His eye for detail and design is what makes him so talented at what he does. When he’s not working, his passion lies in triathlons. Pembrokeshire is the perfect place to train as we have so many different terrains whether it be sea swimming, mountain biking, road racing, trail running… you name it, it’s here! So if you fancy bringing your bike along or your wetsuit and running shoes we can definitely point you in the right direction for all the best spots to try.

I spent the majority of my early career working in hospitality. I have spent time in various roles but always maintained a passion for great food and local ingredients. One of my favourite things to do when I’m not working is to spend time with our children in the kitchen cooking up all sorts of delicious treats.

We love this part of the world, and we hope you do too.

Look forward to seeing you soon,

Meg, Jaap, Milan, Lara & little Noa
